Israeli Police Secure Funeral of Rabbi Amos Guetta After His Murder in Netanya

The Israeli Police have finalized security arrangements for the funeral of Rabbi Amos Guetta, a revered spiritual leader of Libyan Jewry in Netanya, scheduled for today at 13:30 at the Veterans' Neighborhood Cemetery. Thousands are expected to attend the funeral following the shocking news of his brutal murder, which occurred shortly after he completed morning prayers at his yeshiva.

Earlier today, the customary autopsy was prevented by the rabbi's students, leading to an unusual decision for forensic experts from the Abu Kabir Institute to conduct the examination at Laniado Hospital in Kiryat Sanz. Dr. Chen Kugel, the head of the forensic institute, personally oversaw the procedure before releasing the rabbi's body for burial.

Following the murder, Central District Commander Amir Cohen held a situation assessment at the scene and assigned the Sharon Unit to lead the investigation. A man in his twenties from Netanya was arrested this morning after a police manhunt and is currently under interrogation. The investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, police in the Central District, led by the Netanya station, have completed preparations to secure the funeral procession, ensuring public safety, order, and traffic management. Streets including Degania, Rabbi Neria, and the cemetery parking lot will be closed during the event, with expected traffic congestion in the area.
