Iran Claims Agreement with Oman on Strait of Hormuz Shipping Fees Despite Oman's Denial
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi responded to Oman's recent statement denying support for collecting fees on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Gharibabadi asserted that Iran and Oman have reached an understanding regarding the imposition of such fees. He added that joint technical and special committees will be established between the two countries to manage the process. Furthermore, he warned that if Oman chooses not to participate in creating a joint system for the Strait's future, Iran will proceed with implementing the fee collection independently.
