Israeli Reservist Seriously Injured in Explosion During Operation in South Lebanon
An Israeli reservist was seriously wounded on Monday in an explosion in the village of Arnoun in southern Lebanon, the IDF spokesperson announced. The cause of the blast remains unknown and is currently under investigation. The incident occurred around 13:30 during an operational activity by a commando force in the Arnoun area. The injured soldier was evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment, and his family has been informed of the details.
This incident follows the death of Captain David Hazut in combat in southern Lebanon overnight Sunday. Another soldier was lightly injured during that encounter, which took place around 2:00 a.m. when Golani Brigade troops encountered a Hezbollah militant in the Deir Sirian area. The militant opened fire, killing the officer.
Just days earlier, on Friday, Israel and Lebanon announced a framework agreement at the White House after four days of negotiations in Washington. The agreement outlines two pilot zones where the IDF will withdraw and the Lebanese army will take over, one north and one south of the Litani River. It includes mutual recognition of sovereignty but does not require the IDF to withdraw from the "Blue Line." Israeli security officials described the deal as historic, aimed at neutralizing Iranian influence, and emphasized that it is backed by the U.S. and the Lebanese government. They stressed that Israel’s readiness to adjust depends on Hezbollah’s disarmament throughout Lebanon.
