Israeli Reservist Severely Injured in Explosion Amid Lebanon Strikes and Withdrawal Agreement
The Israeli military reported that a reservist soldier was seriously injured in an explosion in southern Lebanon on Monday. The soldier was evacuated to a hospital for treatment, and his family has been informed. Earlier on the same day, Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed that 200,000 Lebanese residents were evacuated from 24 Shiite villages in southern Lebanon and are prohibited from returning as part of a withdrawal agreement. Katz also stated that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) destroyed 100% of the buildings in the western and central sectors of southern Lebanon and 73% in the eastern sector. Additionally, the IDF struck six out of eight bridges before the ceasefire, none of which have been restored.
The previous day, the IDF allowed the publication of the death of Captain David Hazut, 21, from Ashkelon, who was a platoon commander in the Golani Brigade's 12th Battalion. He was killed in combat in southern Lebanon. During the same incident, another soldier was lightly wounded and hospitalized, with his family notified. Captain Hazut's funeral took place in Ashkelon, attended by thousands, including his mother Galit, as he was her only son.
