Israeli Defense Minister Katz Says Trump Prevented Hezbollah Collapse to Advance Iran Deal
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated in a briefing to military reporters that former U.S. President Donald Trump prevented a massive strike against Hezbollah across Lebanon in order to facilitate a deal with Iran. Katz emphasized that the threat of a Hezbollah invasion into Israel remains, noting that approximately 1,200 Hezbollah militants are positioned between the Israeli border fence and the Litani River.
Katz also informed the commander of the U.S. Central Command that Israel will not withdraw from its security zones in Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon. Regarding Iran, Katz warned that hostilities could resume either if Trump decides negotiations have failed or if Iran launches an attack on Israel. He described any Iranian assault as potentially triggering a "third Iran war."
