Heatwave Hits Israel with Red Alert Issued for Jordan Valley and Sea of Galilee
Israel is experiencing a significant rise in temperatures, with weather conditions becoming clear and hotter than usual for this time of year, especially in the mountainous regions and inland areas. The Meteorological Service has issued yellow heat warnings for multiple regions including the Hula Valley, Jezreel Valley, northeastern Samaria, northern and southern Negev, and parts of the Judean Desert and Arava. A red alert for extreme heat has been declared specifically for the Jordan Valley and the Sea of Galilee basin.
Today, Monday, after morning clouds dissipate, the weather will be clear with temperatures rising slightly above seasonal averages. Overnight, skies will be partly to mostly cloudy. On Tuesday, similar conditions are expected with continued above-average heat, particularly in the mountains and inland. By Wednesday, the weather will remain clear but temperatures are forecast to drop slightly in these areas.
Temperature forecasts for Monday include highs of 30°C in Jerusalem, 28°C in Tel Aviv and Haifa, 33°C in Beersheba, 35°C in Tiberias, 30°C in Safed, and a peak of 40°C in Eilat. The heat warnings reflect concerns over the strain on residents and infrastructure in the affected regions. The Meteorological Service's alerts aim to prepare the public for the ongoing heatwave and encourage precautions against heat-related health risks.
