Spiritual Guide Charged with Sexual Assault After Promising to Help Woman Conceive

The Israeli State Prosecutor's Office filed charges against Abraham Aburos, 73, from central Israel, accusing him of sexually assaulting a woman under the guise of spiritual guidance. According to the indictment submitted to the Central District Court by attorney Einav Winograd, Aburos served as a spiritual advisor to the complainant's husband. Knowing the couple was struggling to conceive, he falsely claimed that medical treatments would not work and that a spiritual force channeled through him could unblock the woman’s spiritual barriers to pregnancy.

The indictment alleges that on multiple occasions, the woman consented to so-called "treatments" offered by Aburos, who asserted that a spiritual entity was healing her. During these sessions, he reportedly touched her body inappropriately, inserted fingers into her genitalia, and on one occasion exposed himself and rubbed his penis against her anus despite her resistance. Aburos faces three counts of rape by deception and indecent acts.

The prosecution has requested that Aburos be held in custody until the conclusion of the legal proceedings. The case highlights the abuse of trust in spiritual or alternative healing contexts and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals seeking medical or emotional help.
