Israeli Man Faces Fraudulent Rape Charges After Promising Pregnancy Through Spiritual 'Breast' Treatment

The Central District Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment on Sunday against 73-year-old Avraham Aburos from central Israel, accusing him of fraudulent rape and indecent acts. According to the indictment, submitted by attorney Einav Winograd, Aburos exploited his position as a spiritual advisor to the complainant's husband to sexually abuse the woman. The indictment states that Aburos was aware the couple was struggling to conceive and falsely claimed that medical treatments would not help. Instead, he asserted that only a spiritual 'breast' acting through him could remove her spiritual blockages and enable pregnancy.

The complainant reportedly agreed to undergo several so-called "treatments" involving Aburos, who claimed these were performed by the spiritual entity. During these sessions, Aburos allegedly touched her body, inserted fingers into her genitalia, and on one occasion exposed himself and rubbed his genitals against her buttocks despite her resistance. The indictment includes three counts of fraudulent rape and one count of indecent assault.

Alongside the indictment, the prosecution requested Aburos be held in custody until the conclusion of legal proceedings. The case highlights the abuse of spiritual authority to commit sexual offenses under the guise of fertility treatments.
