Spiritual Guide Charged with Sexual Assault of Woman Seeking Fertility Help
The Central District Prosecutor's Office has filed charges against 73-year-old Abraham Aburos for sexually assaulting a woman who sought his help to conceive. Aburos, who acted as a "spiritual guide" to the complainant's husband, was aware of the couple's fertility struggles and claimed to possess supernatural powers to assist them. According to the indictment submitted by Attorney Einav Winograd to the District Court, Aburos convinced the couple that medical treatments would not help and that the woman needed to undergo a "spiritual process" involving a "demon passing through her" to remove supposed blockages preventing pregnancy.
The complainant agreed to the treatments, believing they were spiritual acts, but during the sessions, Aburos committed indecent acts and three counts of rape by deception. In one incident, despite her clear refusal, he unzipped his pants and rubbed his genitals against her anus. The prosecution has requested that Aburos be held in custody until the conclusion of the legal proceedings. The court has imposed a gag order preventing publication of any details that could identify the complainant or her husband and has prohibited full disclosure of the indictment and arrest request.
