Maccabi Tel Aviv Heads to Training Camp in Belgrade Ahead of Key Matches
Maccabi Tel Aviv is set to begin preparations for the new season with a training camp in Belgrade starting Sunday. The team will use the camp to prepare for the upcoming Champion of Champions match against Hapoel Be'er Sheva in less than a month, as well as the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League scheduled for July 23 and 30. In this round, Maccabi will face the winner between Sheriff Tiraspol from Moldova and Aluminij from Slovenia.
Midfielder Ori Azou will join the team on the flight to Belgrade. Last summer, Azou's future was uncertain, but he remained with Maccabi and was loaned to M.S. Ashdod, where he made 15 appearances and scored two goals. Anis Porat Ayash, who was loaned to Hapoel Haifa last season, will also participate in the training camp with Maccabi.
Roy Naveh, another midfielder who impressed with 26 appearances, one goal, and one assist while on loan at Hapoel Haifa last season, will not join the camp as he is expected to be loaned out again this season. Additionally, Hisham Laious, returning from a loan at Volos, will stay in Israel due to injury, as will striker Ion Nicolescu, who is recovering from an injury sustained last season.
