Violent clash at Ben Gurion Airport after delayed luggage left passengers worried before Shabbat
A violent incident broke out on Friday at Ben Gurion Airport after passengers from two delayed flights waited at the baggage carousel for their luggage. Some feared their bags would not arrive before Shabbat, which would leave them stuck at the airport through the holy day.
While they were waiting, and as they complained about the delay, some passengers confronted staff and demanded explanations. The argument escalated into a physical confrontation in which a ground hostess and a nearby security guard were injured.
Airport security officers were seen with weapons drawn during the incident. The situation ended only after security forces intervened, and complaints were later filed with police against those involved.
According to N12, Ben Gurion Airport management has also opened an internal investigation, alongside a police investigation by the Ben Gurion Airport district, to determine what happened and what led to the escalation.
