Besiktas Targets Scottie Wilbekin After Securing EuroLeague Place
Besiktas, which has recently been confirmed as a EuroLeague participant, is looking to make a major signing and has approached Scottie Wilbekin, according to Sport 5. The Turkish club wants to add one of the most familiar names in recent Turkish basketball, and is aiming to reunite him with Ante Zizic, who already played there last season.
Wilbekin spent years with Fenerbahce and recently recovered from an injury. This season he averaged 7.7 points per game in the EuroLeague, shooting 47.2% from the field and 44% from three-point range, while playing 15 minutes a game. He appeared in only six games before leaving the team, which was his only stop since departing Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Besiktas is building around several former EuroLeague players. Last season the roster included Furkan Korkmaz, former Maccabi Tel Aviv center Ante Zizic, and former Hapoel Jerusalem guard Brynton Lemar. Veteran guard Sertac Sanli has also joined the club.
