Inter Enters the Race for Anan Khalaili Amid Transfer Talks

Inter Milan has contacted Union Saint-Gilloise about Israeli winger Anan Khalaili, according to reports in Italy. The move comes as the Serie A champions look for a replacement for Denzel Dumfries, who is increasingly expected to leave Inter for Real Madrid.

Italian outlets had already reported that Khalaili was one of the names proposed to Inter during its search for a successor, and that Napoli had also been tracking him in ongoing talks with the Belgian club. Inter’s interest now means two major Italian sides are competing for the same player.

The negotiations between Napoli and Union Saint-Gilloise have reportedly been slowed by a future sale clause owed to Maccabi Haifa. Italian reports say that clause is pushing the Belgians to demand a higher fee, which has complicated the talks and opened the door for Inter to step in. Inter is now checking both Khalaili’s situation and the price Union Saint-Gilloise would want.

Khalaili, who is 52 appearances in all competitions last season for Union Saint-Gilloise, scored six goals and set up six more. Although his team lost the Belgian title race in painful fashion, it did win the Belgian Cup.
