Iran Condemns Joint U.S.-Gulf Statement and Warns on Strait of Hormuz
Iran’s Foreign Ministry issued a sharp response to a joint statement by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Gulf states, describing it as interference in Iran’s internal affairs, irresponsible, and provocative. Tehran warned against what it called continued hostile conduct in the region.
The ministry said it expects regional countries whose territory was used for aggression against Iran to reconsider their positions. The statement did not specify which countries were meant, but framed the message as a warning to Iran’s neighbors.
On the Strait of Hormuz, Iran said safe passage is not guaranteed without coordination with Tehran. It added that any arrangement involving the strategic waterway must be made in coordination with Iran and in line with the memorandum of understanding.
