Manchester City Set to Sign Elliott Anderson for Record £130 Million
Manchester City have reportedly reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest to sign England midfielder Elliott Anderson for about £130 million. If completed, the deal would make him the most expensive player in English football history, breaking the previous record of £125 million paid by Liverpool to Newcastle for Alexander Isak last summer.
Anderson joined Forest two years ago from Newcastle for £35 million. Since then, he has made 92 appearances, scoring four goals and adding four assists. He also helped Forest stay in the Premier League and reach the Europa League semi-finals.
The article says Anderson has also broken into England’s lineup, starting in the 4-2 win over Croatia and the 0-0 draw with Ghana at the World Cup. England are currently top of their group ahead of their final match against Panama.
The move has not yet been described as officially completed, but the reported agreement would set a new benchmark for Premier League spending and put Anderson on course to become the priciest English transfer ever.
