Manchester City are reportedly close to signing Nottingham Forest and England midfielder Elliot Anderson in a deal that would break the Premier League transfer record. The reported fee is at least 150 million euros, which would top Liverpool’s purchase of Alexander Isak from Newcastle last summer.
Liverpool’s Isak deal cost 145 million euros, and the Reds also spent 125 million euros that same window on Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. That made Wirtz the third-most expensive transfer in English league history at the time. City are now expected to surpass both moves.
Anderson, 23, has become an important player for Thomas Tuchel’s England side and started in midfield for the Three Lions against Croatia and Ghana at the current World Cup. For Nottingham Forest last season, he scored four goals and added four assists while also serving as a major defensive anchor.
Anderson joined Forest from Newcastle in the 2024/25 season for 41.2 million euros. The report says City are nearing final agreement, with the move now moving toward completion.
