Manchester City is reportedly close to completing a massive move for Nottingham Forest and England midfielder Elliot Anderson, with increasing reports saying the deal is nearing final agreement. The transfer would set a new Premier League record, surpassing the benchmark established only last summer.
Liverpool currently holds that record after paying 145 million euros for Alexander Isak from Newcastle. In the same window, Liverpool also bought Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for 125 million euros, making that the third-most expensive transfer in English league history. City is now expected to go beyond both deals.
The reported fee for Anderson is at least 150 million euros. The 23-year-old has become an important player for Thomas Tuchel’s England team, starting in midfield for the Three Lions against Croatia and Ghana at the current World Cup.
Anderson scored four goals and added four assists last season, while also serving as a major defensive presence for Forest. He joined Nottingham Forest from Newcastle in the 2024/25 season for 41.2 million euros.
