Rabbi Dov Lando Criticizes Ultra-Orthodox Road Protests
Rabbi Dov Lando, a leading figure in Lithuania and the wider Lithuanian ultra-Orthodox community, criticized the protests held by ultra-Orthodox demonstrators yesterday on roads across Israel.
In his remarks, Lando said that such forms of protest are not the community’s way and said they were not endorsed by the rabbinic authorities he referred to as "our sages, the pillars of the world, may their merit protect us." He added that these demonstrations often cause "chilul Hashem," or desecration of God's name, using the phrase "rachmana litzlan" as an expression of distress.
The comments were aimed at the street and highway protests that disrupted traffic nationwide. No additional response or follow-up from organizers was included in the article.
