Hyundai Israel has expanded the Tucson lineup with a refreshed hybrid version in European specification, joining the long-wheelbase Tucson Hybrid that arrived a little over a year ago in U.S. specification. The importer, Colmobil, said the non-hybrid Tucson is no longer being sold. The fourth-generation Tucson is the model with the widest range of versions offered in the local market because Israel has received both European and American spec cars, including extended versions.
The new European-spec hybrid uses the same powertrain as the long version, a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine producing 178 hp plus a 64 hp electric motor powered by a 1.49 kWh battery, for a combined 230 hp. It is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and regenerative braking controls. The main difference from the American-spec long Tucson is front-wheel drive instead of all-wheel drive.
Performance and efficiency figures are also different. Hyundai says the European version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.8 seconds, 0.4 seconds slower than the long version, reaches 205 km/h, 20 km/h faster, and returns 17.2 to 17.8 km per liter, about 2.9 km per liter better.
The new model is offered in One, Pro and Icon trim levels. Prices start at 190,000 shekels for the 1.6 Hybrid One, 210,000 shekels for Pro and 220,000 shekels for Icon. The long-wheelbase hybrid starts at 200,000 shekels in Pure trim, 213,000 shekels in Executive, 230,000 shekels in Ultimate and 249,000 shekels in Excellence. The car comes with a five-year or 100,000-km warranty, and the battery is covered for seven years or 150,000 km, whichever comes first.
