Gur Levi was indicted on Wednesday for committing indecent acts and violating the privacy of women and girls he allegedly filmed in a fitting room at the TLV Mall in Tel Aviv. Security-camera footage released with the case appears to show him raising his hand and trying to record inside the booth, then checking his phone as he left the store.
The incident came to light at the beginning of the month, when influencer Shir Weiss said she noticed a mobile phone held over a fitting-room divider while she was undressed in a store at TLV Mall. According to Weiss, she confronted Levi at the scene, but he denied it and left before security arrived.
Police collected surveillance footage and, after publishing Levi’s photo, received additional reports from young women who identified him. A further complaint was also filed against him on suspicion of rape, but prosecutors said they are not charging him with that offense at this stage.
According to the indictment, on June 3 Levi arrived at TLV Mall on Karlibach Street in Tel Aviv, entered a branch of the Bershka fashion chain, gathered several items, and went into the fitting rooms. He stood on a chair, pointed his phone camera toward neighboring stalls, and filmed several women and girls without their knowledge or consent. Prosecutors said he acted to obtain sexual arousal, gratification, or humiliation. The indictment also says he returned about 25 minutes later, repeated the act, and filmed a young woman who was wearing only underwear and had the rest of her body exposed.
