A serious outbreak of violence broke out on Wednesday afternoon in Arad, where a large brawl and violent clashes flared between Gur Hasidim and secular residents. The fighting took place near a residential complex in the city and came amid long-standing tensions in Arad.
According to journalist Almog Boker, the confrontation began after secular residents tried to block cars carrying the Hasidim, who were heading to join a convoy toward Prison 10. Videos from the scene show dozens of people confronting one another in and around the neighborhood, with shouting, running in the streets, direct physical scuffles, shoving, and objects being thrown.
The unrest spread quickly through nearby buildings and public areas. Bystanders and frightened residents, including women and children, were caught up in the chaotic scene.
The police said that after the first reports, large forces from the Southern District Police and Border Police were rushed to the area. They worked to separate the sides, restore public order, disperse the gatherings, and prevent the violence from escalating further.
