The IDF said it killed Akram Muhammad Mahmoud Abu Mashi in southern Gaza earlier this week. Abu Mashi was a member of Hamas’s military wing and took part in the cross-border assault into Israel during the October 7 massacre.
According to the IDF spokesman, Abu Mashi had recently been working to rebuild Hamas forces in the area and was trying to advance targeted terror attacks against civilians and Israeli troops. The army said the operation targeted a militant who remained active in the effort to restore the organization’s capabilities.
Southern Command said Israeli forces are deployed on the ground in line with the agreement and will continue acting firmly to remove any security threat. The military also released footage of Abu Mashi from the morning of October 7, showing him as he set out on the deadly raid into Israeli territory.
