Beitar Jerusalem are continuing preparations for next season and the club’s staff is working to build a deeper squad for coach Almog Cohen. Inside the club, they believe Dan Glazer will eventually join, but the move may take time because of financial gaps in negotiations and the structure of the deal.
Glazer, a former Maccabi Tel Aviv midfielder, still has six months left on his contract with Kairat until January, and is expected to be released rather than extend his stay in Kazakhstan. Beitar, however, do not want to pay compensation to his current club, which is part of the delay.
His potential arrival would also affect the rest of the squad-building process. If he does come to Jerusalem, Beitar’s preferred next move would be to sign a foreign striker, because the midfield spot would effectively be freed up. The club is also looking for an Israeli left-back to provide backup for Yarden Cohen.
At the moment, Beitar has no leading candidates for the left-back role, and names that have come up have already been ruled out. The team is scheduled to leave for a training camp in Bulgaria next week.
