Beitar Jerusalem are continuing preparations for next season while the staff works on transfers and on building a deeper squad for coach Almog Cohen. Club officials believe Dan Glazer will eventually join, but the move may take time because of salary and contract details in negotiations, and because Beitar want him to arrive on a free transfer from Kairat.
The former Maccabi Tel Aviv midfielder still has six months left on his contract, until January, but is expected to be released and not extend his stay in Kazakhstan. Beitar, however, do not want to pay compensation to his club.
If Glazer does sign, it will also affect the rest of the squad-building plan. The club’s preferred next move would be to bring in a foreign striker, since Glazer would free up a central midfield spot.
Beitar are also looking for an Israeli left back to back up Yarden Cohen. So far there are no candidates, and the names that have come up have been rejected. The team is due to leave for a training camp in Bulgaria next week.
