An approximately 70-year-old pedestrian was killed Sunday morning after being struck by a truck on Reshba Street at the corner of Ramban Street in Jerusalem's Rehavia neighborhood. Initial police reports indicate the woman was hit by the truck and left at the scene with severe injuries. The truck driver did not remain at the scene, and police have launched extensive searches to locate him. Emergency medical personnel who arrived at the accident scene provided medical treatment and attempted resuscitation efforts on the woman, but were ultimately forced to pronounce her dead at the scene. "She suffered severe injuries, and after resuscitation efforts, the teams had to determine her death at the scene," said Haim Mizrahi, Yehoshua Dessler, and Elimelech Philips, paramedics from United Hatzalah. Concurrently with the police search for the driver, traffic accident investigators from the Jerusalem District arrived and began investigating the circumstances of the fatal collision. The investigators are collecting evidence from the scene to determine the sequence of events that led to the fatal incident.
