National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir responded to Police Commissioner Lt. Gen. Danny Levy after Levy backed the conduct of Bnei Brak-Ramat Gan station commander Lt. Cmdr. Yuval Shavit and the officers during Haredi protests on Route 4. Ben Gvir said he “respects” the commissioner and that the police handling of the incident would be reviewed.
He added that once the lessons-learned process is completed, “significant steps” will be needed to ensure such events do not happen again, saying, “and that is what will be done.” The remarks indicate that the minister expects operational changes following the protest response, although he did not specify what measures are under consideration.
