Netanyahu Calls for Reducing Dependence on U.S. Arms Support
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told reserve combat officers in a course in Gush Etzion that Israel should build its own independent weapons supply system rather than rely on the United States. He said he greatly appreciates the support Israel has received from its American friends, but added that the country must “free ourselves from dependence” and develop “our own independent armament system.”
Netanyahu said Israel needs to keep expanding its strength, add more and more technology, and train more generations of commanders like the officers before him. In his words, that is what will ultimately determine “where we will be.”
He concluded by saying, “With God’s help and your help, we will be in a good place.”
