Five Israelis from central Israel and the Sharon region were expelled from Dubai after they were caught with hashish and marijuana, according to a source familiar with the case who spoke to Maako. The source said the men were arrested during their stay in the United Arab Emirates after checks found they had only a few grams of drugs on them.
“Their great luck is that they were caught with only small quantities. Some were deported from the country, and others had to pay heavy fines and received a black stamp that bars them from entering Dubai and the United Arab Emirates in the future,” the source said.
Despite knowing the country’s strict drug laws, the men allegedly smuggled dozens of grams of hashish and marijuana so they could use them during their vacation. Maako reported that in recent years dozens of Israelis with criminal records have been expelled from the country, some after offenses and others after it emerged they were wanted for questioning in Israel.
