President Donald Trump responded after an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said there was no plan for inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency to visit damaged civilian nuclear sites in Iran, and that Tehran would decide on its own how to use released funds, with no restrictions. Trump insisted the opposite, saying Iran had agreed to allow nuclear inspections and to spend the unfrozen money only on American agricultural products and medical equipment.
Trump wrote that, despite denials and what he called false statements and “fake media” propaganda, Iran had “fully and completely” accepted high-level nuclear inspections “for a long time in the future (forever!!!).” He said that this would ensure “nuclear integrity.”
He added that if Iran had not agreed to those terms, there would have been no further negotiations. Trump also said that, based on this and other significant concessions from Iran, he agreed to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and not impose another naval blockade, although ships would remain in position in case the blockade had to be restored.
On the money question, Trump said any funds or sanctions relief released by the U.S. Treasury would be placed in a U.S.-controlled trust account and used only to buy food and medical supplies from the United States, including corn, wheat and soybeans. He said Iran urgently needs these goods, called it a humanitarian crisis, and added, “the talks are going well.”
