A passenger shuttle was partially swallowed by a sinkhole that opened suddenly on Haga Street in Bnei Brak on Tuesday afternoon, around 2:00 p.m. The hole was about two meters deep, and the front of the vehicle sank into it as the driver, Eliran, was stuck in traffic.
Eliran told Kikar HaShabbat that he immediately contacted the municipality and police, but says nobody came to help. "There was a traffic jam and suddenly I noticed the vehicle sinking," he said. "I called the municipality and they do not want to come help me get the car out. I also called the police and nobody answers. I have already been waiting for a quarter of an hour."
The shuttle remained trapped at the scene while rescue and repair efforts were awaited. No one was hurt, but the incident caused traffic congestion in the area around Haga Street. The article notes that similar sinkhole incidents have occurred elsewhere in the world, often after damage to underground infrastructure such as water or sewage pipes, or construction failures.
Sinkholes are described as a serious danger to road users and as requiring immediate treatment by the authorities. In this case, the cause of the collapse was not given, and the vehicle remained stuck pending extraction.
