Israel’s Health Ministry is warning the public not to buy olive oil sold under the brand "Tzipa Tehora" after suspicions arose that the product is counterfeit. The alert followed a complaint from a person who went to the emergency room with symptoms of food poisoning and was released after several hours.
A Food Service inspection found that the product was being marketed online without the labeling required by law. Missing details included the type of oil, its quality, the name of the manufacturer, and the manufacturer’s address.
The ministry said consumers should buy food products only from authorized sellers and known sources. It added that it will continue working to identify cases of olive oil fraud.
