Israel’s Health Ministry has warned the public not to buy olive oil sold under the brand “Tipa Tohara,” after suspicions arose that the product is counterfeit and does not meet the legal definition of olive oil.
The concern surfaced after one person went to an emergency room with symptoms of food poisoning. An inspection then found that the product was being marketed online without the labeling required on the package and without essential information mandated by law.
According to the ministry, the missing details include the type of oil, its quality, and the name and address of the manufacturer. The warning is aimed at consumers who may have purchased the product through online sales.
