Ben Gvir weighs permanent removal of Bnei Brak station commander after protest video
National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has sent a letter to Police Commissioner Danny Levy after video footage allegedly showed police officers throwing stun grenades at protesters in Bnei Brak last week.
In the letter, Ben Gvir said the recordings require a thorough investigation and full accountability for anyone who violated police procedures. He said he is considering using his authority to permanently remove officers and commanders involved in the incident.
Among those he named is Bnei Brak-Ramat Gan station commander Lt. Col. Yuval Shavit, who was filmed tearing a protester’s pants and dragging him away after the man blocked Route 4.
