Shas faction chair MK Yinon Azulai sharply attacked police conduct on Wednesday in the Knesset plenum over events in Bnei Brak, saying the use of force against protesters had crossed a red line. He said, “I condemn all violence, but what we saw today from the police is crossing a red line. It is impossible for police to use disproportionate force against protesters.”
Azulai referred to video from the incident showing Bnei Brak police station commander Cmdr. Yuval Shavit dragging a protester, calling it “a serious and shocking sight that must not be ignored.” He then made an especially harsh remark: “It remains only that they should not shoot them in the head.”
At the end of his remarks, Azulai called on National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Police Commissioner Danny Levy to intervene immediately, stop what he described as “police violence,” and ensure that incidents like this do not happen again.
