Rare 72-Year-Old Audio Survives From the Klausenburger Rebbe’s Third Shabbat Meal

Religious
Translated & summarized from Behadrei Haredim by baba
The story · English

A rare and historic recording has survived from the third Shabbat meal, seudah shlishit, of Rabbi Yekusiel Yehuda Halberstam, the Klausenburger Rebbe, whose yahrzeit falls tonight, 9 Tammuz. The audio preserves words of Torah he delivered during the late Shabbat hours, known as ra’ava de’ra’avin, on Parashat Beshalach, Shabbat Shirah, in 5714, 72 years ago.

The recording is described as the only surviving sound documentation from that seudah shlishit. In the address, the Rebbe laid out guiding principles for future generations, including what the article quotes as “the straight path in serving God and the path of Hasidism in our time.”

The piece is accompanied by a special video that incorporates the historic audio recording to mark the 32nd yahrzeit, produced by the B’Otzar HaChaim institute. The caption notes that the image shows the third meal with the Klausenburger Rebbe.
