TV Host Deletes Posts After Flight Scare Amid Security Probe

Israeli media personality Ofira Assayag deleted social media posts she made about a Flydubai flight scare that involved a rapid descent and the scrambling of fighter jets, amid ongoing security investigations. The flight, en route to Ben Gurion Airport, experienced a sudden 4,000-meter dive before landing safely in Saudi Arabia. Initially, Assayag shared her personal anxieties about pilot stability, questioning how passengers can be sure pilots are calm and professional, especially when she believed the incident was a mere internal dispute.

She later posted, "Violent pilots" caused a regional alert, adding, "Back to routine, happy holiday." However, as reports emerged of a possible stabbing in the cockpit, an attempted crash, and Israeli passengers fighting for their lives, the suspicion of a deliberate attack resurfaced. In light of these serious developments and the gravity of the situation, Assayag promptly removed her earlier posts that characterized the pilots as "violent."

The Israeli security establishment is continuing its investigation into the severe circumstances surrounding the incident. The flight's emergency code 7500, typically associated with hijacking, had initially triggered fears of a 9/11-style scenario.
