Lone Soldiers Scammed Out of Thousands for Tactical Gear
A Channel 13 investigation has uncovered a serious scam targeting IDF soldiers, particularly lone soldiers, who paid thousands of shekels for tactical equipment to a store owner who has since disappeared with their money without delivering the goods. One lone soldier, identified only as D., recounted his experience on the program "HaOlam HaBoker," stating he was recommended a group where tactical gear was available at low prices. After seeing positive reviews, he transferred over a thousand shekels.
Twenty days later, D. realized the store owner had vanished and there was no one to contact. The products never arrived. "It's sad that people make money this way," he said, adding, "This is money from fighters who just wanted to buy shoes."
The Israel Police stated that several complaints have been received and are being investigated. They urged anyone affected to file a complaint online or at a police station with as many details as possible. A credit card company, in response to claims made by a Mr. Benizri (not detailed in the article), rejected his allegations. The company stated its role was limited to providing payment processing services and it was not involved in the business's operations or delivery of goods. The company also claimed to have suffered significant financial damage due to Mr. Benizri's conduct.
