Israel Evacuates Citizens From Ethiopian Conflict Zone
Thirty-six Israeli citizens have been evacuated from an active combat zone in Ethiopia, according to Israeli media outlet Ynet. The complex rescue operation involved coordination between multiple Israeli government agencies, private individuals, and the Ethiopian military to ensure the safety of the civilians.
The evacuation was led by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Israeli Embassy in Addis Ababa, the Ministry for Diaspora Affairs, and the National Security Council. Knesset member Pnina Tamano-Shata and Israeli businessman Lior Yeshayes also played key roles in the operation.
The Ethiopian armed forces provided necessary support and security assistance throughout the evacuation process from the dangerous region. Organizers reported that four additional Israeli citizens remain in the city of Lalibela and are scheduled to depart on September 30th via helicopter. Their departure is expected to mark the completion of the evacuation.
This operation highlights the efforts Israel undertakes to protect its citizens abroad in volatile regions.
