Two Israeli Basketball Players Vie for Historic EuroLeague Berth

Israeli basketball players Dorian Chen Sviz and Romi Levi are on the cusp of making history as they compete with Crvena Zvezda Belgrade for a spot in the Women's EuroLeague. The team faces a decisive qualifying match on Wednesday against Hungarian side Miskolc.

Chen Sviz, 22, is in her second season with the Serbian champions and is one win away from securing a place in Europe's premier club competition. She recently contributed to Crvena Zvezda's comeback victory against Brno, advancing them to this final qualifying stage. Levi joined the team this summer after a successful college career in the United States.

"The connection with Romi is great, she's an amazing person to be around, and on the court we are building chemistry that can help us also during the national team windows," Chen Sviz stated. "The excitement is there, I mainly want to perform and help the team get into the biggest competition in Europe. These are the games I wait for."

Chen Sviz expressed her commitment to Crvena Zvezda, feeling she can make significant contributions to the team, starting with reaching the EuroLeague and then achieving success within it. She previously played in Israel for Hapoel Rishon LeZion and had a strong showing in the EuroBasket qualifiers for the Israeli national team, averaging 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists. Last season, Crvena Zvezda was eliminated in the EuroLeague qualifiers and competed in the EuroCup, where Chen Sviz averaged 11.5 points per game.

If successful, Chen Sviz and Levi would become the first pair of Israeli women to play together in the EuroLeague. Last year, Daniel Raber became the fourth Israeli woman to play in the competition, and Jordan Gerston is set to become the fifth after signing with Zaragoza.
