Dahlan Associates Deny Involvement in Israeli Politics Amid Haaretz Report

Associates of former Fatah official Mohammed Dahlan have strongly refuted claims of his indirect involvement in Israeli elections, as reported by i24NEWS. The controversy stems from a Haaretz newspaper article alleging Dahlan's role in relaying intelligence from Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar to Israel, which reportedly led to a warning from the UAE about an impending Hamas escalation before the October 7th attack.

Dmitry Dilyani, spokesperson for Dahlan's faction, told i24NEWS that the Haaretz report presented Dahlan's alleged actions from an Israeli political perspective, particularly in the context of an election period. He characterized the headlines as "inflated, exaggerated, mainly political, and lacking context."

Dilyani further explained that Sinwar had warned Dahlan of an "impending earthquake," and that international warnings, specifically from the UAE, focused on an explosion from Gaza. He accused Haaretz of selectively framing the issue through a narrow, election-focused lens, emphasizing the political weight of the UAE and its connections.

The report by i24NEWS's Arab affairs commentator Baruch Yedid also referenced other related reports, including one suggesting Netanyahu received a warning from Egyptian intelligence chief before October 7th and another about Netanyahu requesting Zayed to deny passing on a warning, which Netanyahu dismissed as "fake news."
