Fashion Designer Shlomi Dadon Weds Yasmin Avigal After Embracing Orthodoxy

Fashion designer Shlomi Dadon, formerly a prominent figure in Israel's LGBTQ+ community, recently married Yasmin Avigal at the age of 61. Dadon, who has undergone a religious transformation and identifies as having overcome same-sex attraction, met Avigal through Sharon Adam, the mother of singer Omer Adam.

Avigal recounted on the "HaKol Patuach" podcast that she saw a social media post from Adam seeking a match for someone looking for marriage and children. Avigal contacted Adam, expressing her interest, and Adam subsequently spoke with Dadon. Dadon confirmed that on the day Adam posted, he had confided in her about his desire for a significant life change, including marriage to a woman.

Avigal, who was single until age 46, was encouraged by a friend to use a traditional ritual to find a husband. Exactly one year after starting the ritual, she married Dadon. She admitted that initially, she was unaware of Dadon's past as an openly gay man. "I didn't know he was gay at the initial stage," Avigal stated, adding that she trusted Adam's judgment and was intrigued by Dadon.

Dadon revealed that he contacted Avigal the day after speaking with Adam, and their relationship developed from there. During one of their dates, Dadon disclosed his past affiliation with the gay community. Avigal responded by inquiring about his current personal and religious standing, emphasizing that his answer was crucial for her.

The couple married in June with 500 guests in attendance. Rabbi Nechemia Wilhelm was flown in from Bangkok, Thailand, to officiate the ceremony. Dadon proposed to Avigal at the Western Wall two months after their relationship began.
