Lapid Demands Urgent Security Briefing After Netanyahu Warns of Election-Eve Attack

Opposition leader Yair Lapid has formally requested an urgent security briefing from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office. The demand follows Netanyahu's public warning during a visit to the Tel Nof Air Force base that Israel's enemies might attempt an attack around the upcoming elections.

In his appeal, Lapid stated his desire to understand if the threats are genuine and, if so, what measures the Prime Minister is taking to ensure the elections proceed without disruption. Netanyahu had declared at the airbase, "We have signs that our enemies will try to attack us ahead of the elections. So from here, from the Air Force base, from Israel's long arm, I am sending you a message: Do not mess with us, not now and not ever, our long arm will reach you anywhere, anytime."

Following Netanyahu's remarks, Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the "Yisrael Beiteinu" party, commented that if the Prime Minister's security concerns are valid, Lapid must be immediately updated. Eisenkot added that this update is necessary to verify whether the threat is real or merely a political maneuver intended to disrupt the election campaign.
