Opposition Leader Lapid Demands Security Briefing on Election Threats

Opposition leader Yair Lapid has urgently requested an update from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding security threats mentioned by the Prime Minister, particularly in the lead-up to the upcoming elections. Lapid seeks to understand the nature and reality of these threats and how the government plans to ensure the elections proceed without interference.

Netanyahu, speaking at an Israeli Air Force base, stated that there are indications of attempts by "our enemies" to attack Israel around the election period. He issued a strong warning from the airbase, asserting, "Don't mess with us, not now and not ever. Our long arm will reach you anywhere, anytime."

The "Yesh Atid" party, led by Lapid, emphasized the need for clarity, questioning whether the threats are genuine or a political maneuver to disrupt the election process. They stressed that Israel's security should not be entangled with election campaigns, even for appearances.

Another opposition party, "Yisrael Beiteinu" (Israel Our Home), also commented, stating that if Netanyahu's security concerns are valid, the opposition leader must be immediately briefed. They echoed the sentiment that mixing security matters with election campaigns is strictly forbidden.
