Ex-IDF Chief Eisenkot Demands Security Briefing for Opposition Leader Lapid

Former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, now a leading figure in the "Yash! Im Eisenkot" party, has called for an immediate security briefing for Opposition leader Yair Lapid. This demand follows recent statements by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding security threats facing Israel, made during the ongoing election campaign.

The party expressed concern that Netanyahu's remarks might be politically motivated rather than reflecting genuine threats. "It is absolutely forbidden to mix Israel's security with the election system," stated a party spokesperson, emphasizing the need to avoid even the appearance of such a mix.

Prime Minister Netanyahu visited the Tel Nof Air Force base, where he addressed air and ground crews. He issued strong warnings to Israel's adversaries, highlighting recent operational successes in Gaza and Lebanon. Netanyahu specifically mentioned the elimination of terrorists involved in the abduction of Noa Argamani and Avinatan Or, as well as the neutralization of a Hamas brigade commander in Gaza and other operations in Lebanon.

Netanyahu asserted that despite immense pressure to withdraw and relinquish operational gains, he would not yield. He concluded by directly warning enemies against attempting attacks during the upcoming election period, stating, "From here, from the Air Force base, from the long arm of the State of Israel, I give you a message: do not mess with us, not now and not ever, our long arm will reach you anywhere and anytime."
