Besiktas to Host Hapoel Be'er Sheva in Georgia with Fans
Turkish club Besiktas will host Israeli side Hapoel Be'er Sheva on November 26, 2026, for a Europa League match. The game, part of the fifth round of the competition, will not take place in Turkey but rather in Batumi, Georgia. Besiktas President Serdal Adali announced the decision, stating it would be played in front of a crowd.
Adali commented on the venue change, saying, "For us, it didn't create a particularly big difference. We will play our match against Hapoel Be'er Sheva in Batumi and with fans." He also addressed UEFA's decision not to preemptively prevent matches between Israeli and Turkish teams.
"There was no need to file another appeal so that Israeli teams would not be drawn against Turkish teams. UEFA has similar precedents on this issue," Adali stated. He further quoted UEFA officials who, after the draw, reportedly said, "This was not something that didn't cross our minds, unfortunately, it happened again." Adali concluded by noting, "In these cases, our luck is not so good."
