Football Association Chair Addresses National Team After Humiliating Loss

Following a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Ireland, the Israeli national football team is preparing for its upcoming Nations League match against Kosovo, to be held in Hungary. The team returned to practice on Tuesday, with the coaching staff holding smaller group discussions with players to reinforce messages about the need for improvement.

Coach Ran Ben Shimon analyzed the loss with the players, expressing disbelief at the team's collapse and emphasizing the importance of the upcoming matches. He stated, "There's no way we can fall apart like this. We have a good, strong team that has no chance of falling apart like this. We now have two games where we must get points."

Despite the criticism, Ben Shimon has the full backing of Football Association Chairman Shino Zuarz and his deputy Moran Mairi. The professional committee members are focused on work plans rather than team selection. However, Zuarz deviated from his usual approach by directly addressing the players after the Ireland game.

"I am sure you understand what we all felt yesterday," Zuarz told the team. "Ran Ben Shimon is taking all the heat and harsh criticism, but each and every one of you also has a part in this." He urged the players to change their mindset, stating, "If we don't advance in our approach, we will be in trouble." Zuarz, who has known many players for years, expressed confidence in their capabilities, adding, "It cannot be that from the first minute they dismantled us and we didn't respond. Everything happening in Israel and in the media doesn't interest us. I know we are a healthy team and I expect you to rise above yourselves and restore our collective honor."
