Jerusalem Festival Erupts in Violence, Five Arrested
Israeli police reported that riots broke out on the night of September 29 during a religious Jewish festival, known as a "hilula," in Jerusalem. The disturbances occurred in the area of Haim Bar-Lev and Sachs streets. According to police, dozens of participants blocked light rail traffic, obstructed vehicles, and threw stones and other objects at officers. After the rioters refused to disperse, police from the Jerusalem district, along with MAGAV and YASAM units, used crowd dispersal methods, including a water cannon and stun grenades. Simultaneously, a fight erupted among several participants inside the complex where the hilula was taking place, contributing to the unrest and posing a threat to those present. Five suspects have been detained on suspicion of involvement in the riots and violence and have been taken for questioning.
