US Deploys Fighter Squadrons to Israel Amid Regional Tensions

The United States has deployed two squadrons of fighter jets to the Israeli airbase Ovda, according to Israeli security officials cited by Channel 12. The American aircraft arrived within the past 24 hours and have joined other U.S. combat planes already stationed at the base. This reinforcement occurs amidst a broader repositioning of U.S. military assets across the Middle East.

Despite the deployment, Israeli security officials emphasized that the arrival of two additional squadrons does not signify an elevated U.S. combat readiness level concerning Iran. They assessed that the current American contingent remains considerably smaller than the force Washington amassed before the Iran war. U.S. military forces frequently rotate personnel and equipment between bases regionally and internationally, suggesting this movement could be part of a routine rotation.

However, the choice of Ovda as a destination is noteworthy. The base has previously hosted U.S. combat aircraft, with satellite imagery having previously identified American F-22s and other aviation equipment there. This deployment comes as U.S. President Donald Trump stated in a recent interview that he is seriously considering resuming military strikes against Iran.
