New Details Emerge on Israeli Operation Targeting Hezbollah Beepers

More than a year after the sophisticated "Paging Hezbollah" operation, new details are emerging about the Israeli intelligence mission that led to the deadly explosion of Hezbollah beeper devices. A new documentary, "Paging Hezbollah," set to premiere in the United States on October 30, reveals information previously under censorship.

According to the newly released details, Israel identified a Hezbollah operative in August 2024 who suspected the beepers and began investigating them. This operative was subsequently eliminated in an operation designed to make it appear as though another individual beside him was the target. Israel later learned that Hezbollah was preparing to examine the beepers using equipment that had arrived in Lebanon from Iran. To prevent the operation's exposure, Israel also destroyed this incoming shipment, which included scanning machinery.

Former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant had previously alluded to these events in an interview about a year and a half ago, though his remarks were censored at the time. He confirmed that an individual suspected the beepers and was eliminated, and that Israel subsequently destroyed equipment intended for their inspection. The operation, which targeted over 1,500 Hezbollah operatives through the beeper explosions, was reportedly the result of years of planning and deception.

The documentary features interviews with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Mossad Chief David Barnea, and Northern Command chief Uri Gordin. Its creators claim it will detail how Israel infiltrated Hezbollah's communication network through device engineering and supply chain penetration, culminating in the September 2024 operation.
