Hapoel Be'er Sheva Sues Hapoel Emek Over Player Transfer Fees

Hapoel Be'er Sheva/Dimona has filed a lawsuit against Hapoel Emek demanding "development fees" for player C.J. Eilbi, who played for Be'er Sheva last season. Initially, Hapoel Emek refused to pay, but the League Management's Disputes Committee ruled that Emek must pay Be'er Sheva.

Hapoel Emek appealed the decision, requesting a rehearing and arguing that Eilbi did not complete a full season due to the war with Iran, which they claimed was the basis for the committee's initial ruling. During a subsequent discussion, it was decided that the clubs would attempt to reach an agreement before the League Management made a final decision. However, Be'er Sheva claims their attempts to engage Emek in dialogue were ignored.

Eilbi, a standout player for Be'er Sheva/Dimona last season, transferred to Hapoel Emek this past summer after also considering a move to Hapoel Jerusalem. The dispute over development fees for his transfer is now ongoing between the two clubs.

Yonatan Allon, Hapoel Emek's professional manager, stated that temporary league regulations for the 2025/26 season have introduced changes regarding development fees. He indicated that discussions are underway between the clubs and the League Management to clarify these matters. Allon also mentioned a separate issue with Kiryat Ata concerning player Malik Hall, adding that the current discussions are proceeding positively and respectfully, with an agreement expected soon.
